MEDICATION MANAGEMENT FOR CAREWORKERS

Aim
To provide participants with the knowledge and skills which will enable them to safely and legally administer oral and topical medication.

Objectives
On completion of this session participants will be able to -

  • Understand the role of the careworker and responsibilities in medication management, including duty of care, legal responsibilities and level of responsibility
  • Identify the 7 rights of medication administration

  • Identify routes and forms of medication

  • Know what to do should a medication error occur

  • Be able to accurately and efficiently document medication administration

  • Understand guidelines for PRN and over the counter medications

This course does not 'credential' or competency base assess participants.

To expand upon existing knowledge and applying this in an interactive and supportive workshop.

* Role of Care worker
* Safe Medication Practices

 

An interactive update using scenarios to address common issues and problems experienced in the workplace.
