About the Community Reference Group

The Group was set up in late 1997 as a forum for consumers, their carers, advocates and communities of interest to have formal input into the operations of RDNS.

Its role is to provide a consumer perspective into service delivery matters, for example the introduction of the RDNS Health Service Fee, client related promotional literature such as the Client Services Information Booklet and new service initiatives.

The group meets every two months at the Business Centre or in the RDNS Divisions. It currently has twelve members (some of whom are also RDNS Foundation volunteers) and is chaired by Mr Ron Klopp. Anne Maddock is the RDNS Strategic Management representative on the Group.

Group members have also provided a consumer voice on specific project steering committees – for instance, Marjorie has been on the project committee for the development of the carer’s pack for the management of incontinence (help for people who care for someone with bladder or bowel problems).

Several members are actively involved in standing committees in the organisation such as RDNS Ethics Committee and RDNS Client Care Committee.

The Group is very supportive of RDNS and hold RDNS nurses in high regard. They are committed to providing a positive contribution to the organisation. Their experience as clients, carers or advocates provides them with valuable and timely insights as to how they can enhance the consumer experience of our nursing service.
